1. Physician and service expansion  -

The SCKRMC replacement facility will allow the hospital to expand the services they offer our community by taking advantage of a modern and efficient design which combines cutting edge technology with the highest quality of healthcare available.

By supporting a ten year, one-half cent sales tax initiative for your community hospital you are investing in:

The current facility was designed more than a half century ago, during a time when healthcare was delivered in a much different fashion than it is today. With modern medicine’s focus on outpatient services, diagnostic testing, and better, faster results the current facility cannot compete against the advantages of a new building with an efficient, up to date design.

Obstacles such as utility strain, infrastructure support, and visual appeal, are all limiting the current opportunities for additional equipment purchases, recruiting outside physicians, or adding additional services. These limitations contribute to the reasons one-third of Ark City residents receive healthcare outside of Cowley County. However, these obstacles are much easier to overcome when working in a facility designed for future growth opportunities.

2. A positive impact on the local economy -

Regardless of your health status or preference in physicians, the replacement facility along with the anticipated site development will create a positive effect for everyone within our community.

Seven years ago, one hundred and sixty-eight acres of land was hand-picked by our local physicians, and generously donated to be used for the site of the replacement hospital. The regional accessibility and availability of resources allow not only room for the hospital to expand over time, but to also develop the entire property as a complete medical campus. The campus would include independent businesses such as a dialysis center, medical supply companies,          pharmacies, physician offices, a cancer center, and more.

As the hospital grows and additional business develops on the site, long-term, good paying jobs will be created within our community. Those businesses and their jobs help support our local economy, expand our area tax base, increase our chances for outside industrial recruitment, and improve the quality of life for everyone within the community.

3. A long term solution for the healthcare of Ark City -

In the end, the goal is to improve our community’s healthcare for generations to come. This can be accomplished with a new facility that will house the latest technology and assist in recruiting a variety of physicians. A new facility will be the anchor for future development and additional employment opportunities.

While there are multiple solutions to any problem, a one half cent sales tax that will end in ten years allows our community to benefit from maximum growth opportunities with a minimal financial commitment.

The sales tax will guarantee a portion of the funding required to build a new, state-of-the-art replacement hospital. Compared to the alternatives a sales tax is the fairest form of taxation. Since the rewards of a stronger economy and healthier community don’t apply only to those who live within the city limits, the responsibility is also spread equally across the board, shared among everyone who lives, works, or shops in the area.
